Estudiantes de La Plata Wins 2022 Copa Libertadores

Buenos Aires, Argentina - Estudiantes de La Plata has been crowned the 2022 Copa Libertadores champion, South America's most prestigious club competition.

The Argentine team defeated Brazilian side Flamengo 2-0 in the final on Saturday at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires. Juan Sebastian Veron and Mauro Boselli scored the goals for Estudiantes in the first half.

The victory marks Estudiantes' fourth Copa Libertadores title, making them the fourth most successful team in the competition's history. They have now won the tournament in 1968, 1969, 1970, and 2022.

Flamengo, who were looking to win their third Copa Libertadores title in four years, were left to rue a number of missed chances.

The match was played in front of a crowd of over 70,000 fans, creating a spectacle and atmosphere.
